4 Tire Safety Tips for Your Summer Road Trip

Planning a summer getaway? Make tire safety part of your travel prep.
Whether you’re heading to the beach, the mountains, or just out for a weekend escape, your tires are the unsung heroes of every summer road trip. Here are 4 easy tire tips to help you drive with confidence:

1. Check Tire Pressure Before You Go

Tires lose or gain pressure with temperature changes. Over- or under-inflated tires can reduce fuel efficiency and increase your chance of a blowout. Use a pressure gauge before you leave—or let us handle it.

2. Inspect Tread for Wear

If your tread is less than 2/32 of an inch deep, your tires need to be replaced. Not sure how to tell? Try the penny test or ask one of our technicians.

3. Rotate Tires Before a Long Trip

Rotating your tires helps distribute wear evenly, giving you better handling and longer tire life. If it’s been over 6,000 miles since your last rotation, now’s the time.

4. Watch for Vibration or Pulling

If your steering wheel shakes or your car pulls to one side, it could mean an alignment or balance issue—both of which can shorten tire life and reduce safety.
