Five Tips for Preparing Your Vehicle for Off-Roading

As the weather keeps warming up, outdoor activities will be rising in popularity. These spring activities can include hiking, backpacking, camping, offroading, and so much more!

Offroading can be very strenuous on your vehicle, so you should take the necessary actions to prepare your vehicle for some added fun.

Here are a few tips from us to prepare your vehicle for some offroad fun:

Consider taking a vehicle with AWD. First and foremost, try to choose a vehicle with AWD. All-wheel-drive vehicles will be ideal for offroading since the terrain will be much rougher and uneven. This can minimize the chances of your vehicle getting stuck!

Invest in the right tires. If offroading is an activity that is especially popular for you, you may want to consider purchasing all-terrain or off-road tires. These tires are made to handle unpaved roads with gravel, mud, loose soil, and/or sand. Great for keeping you moving in rough conditions.

Emergency supplies are your friend. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. This saying applies to offroading too. It’s better to make sure you have the basic supplies to solve an issue that may arise. Bring extra fuel, an air compressor, water, and anything else you can think of. Stay safe!

Lower your tire pressure. Slightly deflating your tires will bring more of the rubber closer to the ground, making your vehicle have better traction. This can be a big help.

Add extra protection if necessary. Going on a particularly rocky trail? Be sure to add skid plates to protect the underside of your vehicle from excess damage. One wrong hit can necessitate an expensive repair.

Offroading can be a solely exhilarating experience when you take the right precautions to make it safe too. If you need any assistance with getting your vehicle up to snuff for offroading, swing on by and we’d be happy to help you.
